The Mission of the SMDC Sexual Abuse Awareness Program is:
- To serve the needs of those affected by sexual abuse.
- To educate about Sexual Abuse and its prevention. Understand sexual trauma and the stages of the healing process for both the survivor and the families.
- To empower the survivor/families to act towards the elimination of sexual abuse.
- Educate and support the families in how to effectively deal with the survivor during the intense healing process, through the triggers and how they can deal with their feelings of anger and powerlessness.
- Educate the families and survivor in finding different or additional ways to show love and affection.
